Novak garners second team All-State honors

March 31 , 2009 -  Congratulations to Nick Novak for being named second team All-State. Novak, a senior at Franklin Regional High school in Murrysville, averaged 28.8 points & 4.5 assists per game leading his team to a record of 17-7 for the 2008-09 season.

 


 

Redfoot leads Hollidaysburg in win over rival Altoona

January 22 , 2009 -  Sophomore Joel Redfoot energizes Hollidaysburg in a 39-36 victory over rival Altoona, after being thumped 61-39 just two weeks ago. Altoona's Anthony Lytle was held to only 4 points after posting big numbers in previous match-up. With the win Hollidaysburg now has a record of 8-6, while Altoona falls to 6-7 on the year.

 


Raymond, Lytle honored for their performances at Red Lion's Holiday Tournament

December 30, 2008 -  Congratulations to Alex Raymond & Anthony Lytle for leading Altoona High in a 64-59 victory over Red Lion in Red Lion's Holiday Tournament Championship. Alex Raymond was named MVP scoring 21 points, while Anthony Lytle scored 20 and was named to the All-Tournament team.

 


MaxPreps top 50 in PA

December 28, 2008 -  Pride 17U's Novak (1), Bellovich (3), Raymond (16), Weatherly (41), & Lytle (45) among top 50 scorers in PA. In addition, Altoona's Alex Raymond is the leader in assists at 7.8 per contest. Click here for additional information.


Novak named Male Athlete of the Week

December 24, 2008 -  Senior Guard Nick Novak (Murrysville, PA) of Franklin Regional earned his second weekly honor of the 2008-09 season when he was named Male Athlete of the Week in the Pittsburgh Tribune. Novak broke Franklin Regional's single game scoring record with 45 points in Franklin Regional's 82-71 victory of Woodland Hills. Nick is currently the leading scorer in the WPIAL averaging 32 points per game. Click here for additional information.


Raymond, Weatherly shine in head to head action

December 16, 2008 -  All were on display last night as Altoona and Johnstown put on a show in overtime action. Altoona's Alex Raymond and Johnstown's Paul Weatherly engaged in a scoring battle, Raymond finishing with 34 points and Weatherly with 29 points. Though in the end it was Johnstown who prevailed out scoring Altoona 12-7 to seal the deal in overtime. Johnstown remains undeated at 5-0, while Altoona now has a record of 2-2. Bellovich, Novak, & Raymond post big time performances

December 7, 2008 -  Pride 17's have strong showings in opening week of 2008-09 PIAA basketball season. Corey Bellovich scores 32 points and grabs 16 boards in a 88-79 win over Langley. Nick Novak scores a total of 72 points in two games before losing at the buzzer to rival Norwin in Hempfield Tournament. Alex Raymond was named Most Outstanding Player of New Castle's Tournament after posting 21 points and 10 assists vs. Farrell, and 20 points and 8 assist in a loss to Perry Traditional for the tournament championship.


Collins & Mickens open season with MVP honors

December 7, 2008 -  Congratulations to Elle Collins (Hollidaysburg), & Lucas Mickens (Central Catholic) for leading their high school teams to tournament championships this weekend. Elle Collins was named MVP of the Susquehannock High School Girls Tournament after leading her team with 14 points in a victory over Coatsville 64-37. Lucas Mickens, also named MVP with 23 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 blocks, and 3 assist in a victory over Highlands for the Dave Smith Classic Championship.


 

Pride @ Center of Attention in the WPIAL

December 5 , 2008 -  Congratulations to several of our Pride 17U Boys for being selected to the WPIAL Players to Watch list. The following players were selected: Andre Anthony (Penn Hills), Devon Cottrell (Gateway), Lucas Mickens (Central Catholic), Nick Novak (Franklin Regional), Brady Pacific (Kiski Area), & Will Clark (Allerdice).
